Growth Letter #17

💁‍♀️ Why should you CARE?

I'm not a fan of funnels.

I don't like them visually.

I don't like how marketers talk (and write) about them.

I don't like the whole concept around funnels.

And that concept is: You get leads, you nurture your leads, and then a few convert.

It's all about numbers, sales, and conversions.

And while numbers and sales are obviously very important, there's ONE thing missing in this framework: genuine connection with other humans & CARE!

So I don't teach funnels in the GYM

Inspired by Hubspot flywheel, I created a whole new wheel and framework.

The C.A.R.E. framework.

C.A.R.E stands for:

💪 Captivate

😍 Amaze

👐 Receptive

🥳 Enthusiasm

I teach how to captivate strangers by building trust and authority.

I teach how to amaze your leads every step of the way in their journey with you.

I teach how to build such powerful connections that you make your leads receptive to your product or service.

I teach how you can create strong bonds that your customers will sell on your behalf with tons of enthusiasm.

Marketing is changing.

People want to be seen and heard.

They want to know you're talking specifically to them.

That you really care about the problem they're trying to resolve.

They want genuine content.

Genuine interactions.

Real humans.

Raw and relatable stories.

They don't want to be sold to.

They want to be spoken to.

You need to build trust.

Be transparent.

Share your values.

And this is not just me saying it… It's coming from all the thought leaders and data reports.

Some examples:

90% of customers mentioned authenticity as an important factor in deciding which brands they like and support (SocialMediaToday)

86% of shoppers prefer an authentic and honest brand personality on social media (G2)

Customer-first B2C businesses see nearly double the revenue growth of non-customer-first businesses (Forrester)

So if you want your business to thrive in the long run, add CARE (and use my framework 😎)!

NOTE: I do use the word funnel many times in my messaging because it's what people are used to and understand… for now! 😉
Give me a few years and people will refer to Ro's CARE Wheel framework 😂

From 0 to 5K

This is a story about running. Not about money.

In case you missed my IG story and post:

🏃‍♀️ I'm celebrating a new running milestone: 5K.

If you were to tell me a couple of years ago that I'd manage to run 5K I'd laugh and say “Meeeee? No way!”.

But right now, I'm actually starting to dream about half marathons.

Which feels absolutely insane to me.

But getting here was no walk in the park.

It's been a long journey.

When I started I could barely run 200m without running out of breath.

After a couple of years of short runs + long walks, I finally managed to get to 2.5K/3K (at the end of 2023).

But I got stuck there.

For a few months.

And looking back I realise that I was making all types of excuses:

“I'm so tired today”

“I don't feel it today”

“I don't have time”

“I don't really need to get to 5K”

The other day, I was chatting with a friend and she told me it took her 2.5 months to get to 5K.

Just like me she didn't run at all before.

This triggered me badly. I was so inspired.

“If she can do it, so can I”

So that same day, I started running and didn't stop until I reached 5k.

And the funny thing is…

I could have kept going. My legs were fine and so was my breathing.

I needed this extra boost to get there.

But I was ready long before.

The lessons in this story?

💁‍♀️ We are our only limit

💁‍♀️ When you break your “glass ceiling” you start seeing a bunch of new possibilities (running a half marathon is now a possibility I actually believe in)

🤰 Growth inspo: Marry your passions and make them have babies

BIC sells pens and razors.

And they found a really creative way to promote 😂 both Side by side.

Do you offer 2 different things or have different passions?

How can you marry them and make them have babies?

My husband offers photography and now pizza workshops.

He's “marrying them” by creating beautiful portraits of people proudly holding the pizzas they've made (well, in reality, it's me taking the photos because his hands are full of flour, but that doesn't change the concept) 😎.

PS: This is an old ad, but I saw this on LinkedIn a few weeks ago and felt it was too good not to share!

🤪 Are entrepreneurs delusional?

Feeling stuck in a crappy job selling fax machines door to door, Sarah Blakely, the founder of Spanx, wished for a million dollar idea.

She knew she wanted to create something big, but she didn't know what.

One day she went to a party and cut the feet of her pantyhose (or collants as people call them around here).

She knew at that moment she had found her million dollar idea (and she had).

In 1985, when Jim Carrey was 23, he was unemployed and broke.

He wrote a 10 Million dollar check to himself for “acting services rendered” with the date of 1995.

He carried the check in his wallet everywhere he went.

And in 1995 he got a deal for the movie The Mask for 10 Million dollars.

To be an entrepreneur you need to be delusional.

Even if it's just a tiny bit 🤏.

You need to believe in a future version of yourself.

A reality that's not yet there (yet!).

You must believe in that vision so badly that you won't stop until you get there.

It took Jim 10 years to get a 10 million dollar deal.

Spankx was launched in 2000 and in 2012, Spanx founder Sara Blakely was crowned by Forbes as the youngest self-made female billionaire.

I love to ask my gymers where they want to see themselves in 5/10 years.

And now I'd love to hear from you.

What's your delusional 10 year dream?

🚀 Actionable Growth Tip: Create that delusional vision for yourself

Never thought about yourself in 10 years?

I'm giving you the green card to create a delusional vision for yourself.

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?

What do you wear?

What house do you live in?

What car do you drive?

Who do you spend your time with?

What do your days look like?

How much are you earning?

Be that specific.

And when you dream it, feel like it's yours already.

Having a clear vision of your future will help you take the steps to get there.
