I read this the other day, and my immediate reaction was:

I AM sitting on a mountain of value.

 

My decade+ of experience in marketing.

My instincts for the right marketing strategy and tactics.

My leadership skills and the way I can get people to cut the excuses and get sh*t done.
My mentorship and coaching skills.

Even my personality and my very unique way of doing things. 

 

I knew this when I quit my job.

 

And I knew from the start of my business journey that there was a marketing program within me. 

 

This was one of my motivations to start The G.Y.M. program.

I wanted to share that value.

I wanted to use my leadership skills.

 

But this story is not about me.

It's about YOU. 

 

Here's the thing.

You too are sitting on a mountain of value.

 

Your experience.

Your knowledge.

Your skills.

Your very unique take on your area of expertise.

Your very unique way of doing things.

 

So what are you going to do with that mountain of value?

🎯 BIG HAIRY AUDACIOUS GOALS

“You can't hit a target you cannot see”

 

What are Big Hairy Audacious Goals?

 

I'm glad you asked!

 

The term is abbreviated as BHAG.

 

It was coined in the book Built to Last: Successful Habits of Visionary Companies by Jim Collins and Jerry Porras.

 

BHAG's are long-term (10+ years) stretch goals that help leaders think BIG and teams understand the bigger picture.

 

It has to be so big that it feels almost impossible right now. 

 

We're talking about “Let's connect the whole world” (Meta) or “Enable human exploration and settlement on Mars” (SpaceX) kinda thing.

 

Why is this relevant to you?

 

Because these big ideas are not exclusive to Musk or Zuckerberg.

 

You need to STOP thinking small.

No, you're not going to put the first woman on the moon (wouldn't that be cool and fair?).

  • Why have a local business that makes you 50K/year when you can go online and make even more than that?

  • Why think you can only travel in your country when you can travel the world?

  • Why stay stuck in a job that you hate, when you can have a business you love that generates a lot more money (and satisfaction)?
     

Once you create that big vision for your future and believe you can figure it out and make it work it will help you:

  • Make strategic decisions

  • Say no to the things that won't help you reach your goal

  • Focus on the things that will

An example of BAGH for you: 

  • I want to become a keynote speaker who is paid top dollar to speak on the biggest world stages (I see this for a couple of my clients 😎)

  • I want to be the number-one organic skincare brand in Europe

  • I want to retire when I'm 50 (that's my BHAG btw)

Be clear on your BHAG.

And then take the steps to make it happen.

And I made this decision because it's aligned with my BHAG: I want to retire when I'm 50.

Think long-term. Where do you want to be in 5 to 10 years?

Be clear on your vision.

Take the steps towards it.

 

And the first step is to assess your “mountain of value”.

 

What can you do about this value you have within you right now that will take you closer to your BHAG?

How can you monetize your skills?

How can you attract the right people, and the right partnerships to get you to your BAHG?
